 Vernon Herron

 

Vernon is the Director of Officer Safety and Wellness for the Baltimore City Police Department. His program has received National recognition 
for its impact on identifying problematic behavior in Police Officers and subsequently reducing excessive force incidents. 
Vernon speaks nationally on the effects of "Trauma in Law Enforcement".

 

EMS,  Fire,  Law Enforcement,  Communications Officers,  First Responder Chaplains,  and Clinicians are Welcome to attend this training event at NO COST

Warrior's Rest Foundation and the Missouri Department of Public Safety have partnered to provide the following Wellness and Stress Management courses for 1st Responders in Missouri.   

 

1)   The International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) 3-day “Basic Peer” Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) course (referred to as GRIN).

 

2)   An additional 2-day Peer Support Training (called PST).  The 2-day PST course is designed as follow-up courses for all peer team members and provides enhanced peer support team training NOT included in the above 3-day GRIN courses.                       Prerequisites for PST are previous CISM training OR the above CISM Course GRIN 

 

The training tuition is paid by the Missouri DPS and provided at NO COST to the student or agency.  Agencies are responsible for student lodging and per diem costs if necessary.

 

These classes will be offered every 2 - 3 weeks in 2022 & 2023 across various regions in the state, to include Jefferson City,  Columbia,  Springfield,  Joplin,  Cape Girardeau,  St. Louis,  Kansas City,  and more.

 

Law Enforcement, EMS, Fire, and Communications Officers are Welcome to attend these training events at NO COST.  First Responder Chaplains and Clinicians are also Welcome if space is available. 

Police Officers must be a State of Missouri Peace Officer with a POST License.

Class Times are 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM each day

Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention (GRIN) 27 hr 

Each GRIN Class is limited to 30 participants. 

The 3-day ICISF Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) / “Basic Peer Training” that combines Assisting Individuals in Crisis (a 2-day course) and Group Crisis Intervention (another 2-day course) into a fast paced 3-day course referred to as “GRIN”.   This course is designed for new peers and existing peer team members looking for a refresher CISM certification. 

 Class is 8am - 6pm each day

This 2-day course is designed for all peer team members and provides enhanced peer support team training (NOT included in the 3-day GRIN courses) in the following topics:

Suicide Prevention - Intervention

Peer Team Sustainment

Addiction in First Responders "Train-the-Trainer"

First Responder Wellness Course "Train-the-Trainer"
